Thomas is a guitar instructor with 14 years of playing experience, specializing in technical metal. He holds a bachelor's degree in Professional Music from Berklee with concentrations in Guitar Performance, Contemporary Writing and Production, and Music Business. His teaching emphasizes efficient technique tailored to each student, prioritizing movement that keeps you playing for years without injury. Whatever your goals as a guitarist, Thomas will help you get there with a clear plan in place.

Miles is a multi-instrumentalist, performer, and songwriter from Los Angeles with a bachelor's degree in performance from Berklee College of Music, specializing in guitar and electric bass. With teaching experience ranging from coaching bands to private instruction in guitar, bass, piano, drums, and songwriting, he brings unique insight into how instruments work together. Miles teaches strong fundamentals using songs his students love, inspiring them to discover their own sound while offering guidance on performing and navigating the Boston music scene.

Jake is a guitarist, producer and sound designer, and a graduate of Berklee College of Music, where he earned a degree in Electronic Production and Sound Design with a concentration in guitar. He performs and tours nationally under his solo electronic project Maxfield, playing festivals and clubs around the country. As a teacher, Jake emphasizes systems and strategies for getting better: building a deeper understanding of the instrument, and applying music theory in a way that is actually fun. He specializes in pop, rock, blues, funk, songwriting and improvisation, and he is equally at home helping you get an idea out of your head and into a DAW.
George

University of Massachusetts Lowell
George is a rock guitarist with a Bachelor of Music in Composition for New Media from UMass Lowell, and he has studied with a range of accomplished players, from academics to active touring artists. His band, The Ghouls, performed at the Boston Music Awards in 2024 and was awarded Rock Artist of the Year. With nearly four years of teaching in private and group settings, George works mostly with adult beginners, returning players, and songwriters, building each lesson around what the student actually wants to play: favorite songs, original music, or finally understanding why the fretboard works the way it does. Technique and theory arrive on the back of that momentum. Students describe him as friendly, knowledgeable, and patient.

I've been coming to MP for piano and guitar lessons for several months now and have had an awesome experience so far. The teachers here are all super knowledgable, friendly, and are open to working with you on whatever you'd like. Whether you want to dive deep into theory or just learn your favorite songs, you can get exactly the experience you're looking for here. It's also a great opportunity to collaborate with other musicians. The band and group classes are a ton of fun, and there's open mic nights and happy hours where people have the opportunity to perform what they've been working on. It's a great chance to perform in front of people if you're interested, and also super fun to see other members going up and doing their own covers, classical piano renditions, or original songs. Most of all, everyone here has been super welcoming! My guitar and piano skills have considerably improved, and I always forward to coming here after work.

4 months agoI started coming to MP for singing lessons a few months ago and have had an amazing experience so far! I was able to get back into piano and guitar as well, and my membership allows me to book classes across all three! Everyone is super friendly and welcoming, and always attentive to make sure you are having a positive experience. Hours are super accommodating around work (evenings and weekends). Every instructor I have had has been extremely talented, patient and thoughtful in their teaching, and are super supportive of anything you want to learn in private lessons or group lab classes! Every group class is always a very positive environment, and a completely judgment free zone. It's been exciting to see actual progress in guitar and especially my singing! Totally recommend giving Musicians Playground a try!

2 months agoMP is essentially a music academy. They offer one on one lessons, group lessons, open mic night, keyboard, vocal and guitar lessons. The accountability has been one of the biggest differences in my growth. The studio is usually buzzing with activity and offers such a great setting to learn. Highly recommend MP!

We have guitars available at our studio for use during lessons and group classes. However, having your own guitar for home practice will significantly accelerate your progress.
Most beginners can strum basic songs within 4-6 weeks. Within 3-6 months, you'll be comfortable with common chord progressions and can play many popular songs.
Yes! We teach both techniques along with music theory, chord progressions, scales, and song structure. Our instructors tailor lessons to your musical interests and goals.
Absolutely! Hand size rarely limits guitar playing. There are also various guitar sizes and neck widths available. Our instructors can recommend the best fit for you.
Yes. Most guitar students at Musicians Playground start as complete beginners in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Adults bring focus and a clear idea of what they want to play, and with a private lesson a week plus group classes, most are strumming full songs within the first couple of months.
The $100 Intro Week comes first: a one hour private guitar lesson, seven days of unlimited group classes and open practice time, and the $100 applies toward a membership or lesson pack if you continue. Memberships are monthly, from $170 for group classes only to $480 with four private lessons a month. Every tier above the entry Adventurer Mini includes up to 8 group classes a month, the Mini includes up to 4, and all of them include up to 8 practice hours and studio guitars to use in lessons and classes.
