It has 200+ members, 20 instructors who each teach their primary instrument only, and 200+ group classes a month in groups of 3 to 6. Yes. Musicians Playground is an adults only music school. Every private lesson, group class, practice session, event and performance is for adult learners, most of them working professionals in downtown Boston who are picking up an instrument for the first time or returning after years away.

Yes. Most Musicians Playground members started as complete beginners in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond. Adults bring focus and a clear idea of what they want to play, and with a private lesson a week plus group classes of 3 to 6, most are playing songs within the first couple of months. No experience is required to start.

At Musicians Playground the $100 Intro Week is the way in: a one hour private lesson, seven days of unlimited group classes, and open practice time. It is a paid experience, not a free trial, and the $100 applies toward a membership or a lesson pack if you continue. Memberships run $170 to $480 per month depending on how many private lessons you want, and each includes up to 8 group classes a month.

Absolutely! We welcome students of all skill levels, and many of our current students started their musical journey with us. Our experienced instructors are passionate about helping beginners build a strong foundation while making learning fun and engaging.

After your Intro Week, we'll help you choose the best learning path based on your experience, goals, and schedule. You can join our regular group classes, schedule private lessons, or combine both for optimal learning. We'll create a personalized plan that works for you.

Group classes are designed for learners of all levels, offering the perfect balance of guidance and freedom to explore. In each class, you'll learn new techniques and songs while enjoying the experience of playing with others to accelerate your progress. Our guitar and piano classes use a silent system, allowing students to learn at their own pace without distractions.

Our group classes are intentionally kept small, 3 to 6 students per class, ensuring personalized attention while still enjoying the benefits of social learning and playing.

We offer 200+ group music classes a month across piano, guitar, voice, and drums to support our adult student learning.

As a beginner, you can take any classes marked as 'All Levels' or 'Beginner.' These include Band, Fundamentals, and Lab, designed to help you build a solid foundation while having fun!

As an intermediate player, you can take any classes marked as 'All Levels' or 'Intermediate.' These include Band, Hits, and Labs, designed to help you refine your skills while having fun

To ensure the best learning experience, it's not allowed to take both beginner (fundamentals) & intermediate (hits) classes. If you're unsure which level class to take, feel free to ask your private lesson instructor or our administrative team. They'll be happy to guide you in the right direction

To join our intermediate level classes, you'll be encouraged to complete a brief evaluation with an instructor during a 1:1 lesson in your chosen instrument, or you can get guidance from our administrative team to help you decide when you're ready

Most memberships include up to 8 group classes a month. The Adventurer Mini includes up to 4. Beyond your allowance, members can purchase additional group classes at 50% off ($35 per class) through the Mindbody store. Yes! We regularly organize bi-monthly adult happy hour performances. These events provide valuable performance experience in a supportive environment. All participation is voluntary but highly encouraged.

Our vibrant music community connects through group classes, happy hour performances, our member's only discord channel, collaborative projects and band opportunities, and special workshops and masterclasses.

We offer flexible month-to-month memberships with no long-term commitment required. While many students choose to stay with us long-term, you're free to adjust or pause your membership as needed and we offer discounts for annual memberships.

Our studio is at 33 West Street in Downtown Crossing, Boston, steps from every T line. Lessons are in person, and private lessons can also be taken online when you cannot make it in. Group classes are in person only.

We have some fantastic guitars and pianos in our studio that are available for use during your group classes and private musical instruction.
