Vocal & Songwriting Instructor
Berklee College of Music
Tima is a dynamic vocalist and vocal coach with a degree from Berklee College of Music. With roots in R&B, soul, and gospel, she brings warmth and energy to every lesson. Her teaching focuses on building vocal technique while encouraging students to find their authentic voice and style. Whether you're working on breath control, expanding your range, or preparing for a performance, Tima creates a supportive space for growth and self-expression.

Piano & Songwriting Instructor

Triin is a versatile musician and educator originally from Estonia, now based in Boston. After earning degrees in psychology and completing music therapy studies, she pursued her passion for music at Berklee College of Music on a World Tour Scholarship, majoring in Contemporary Writing & Production. She enjoys exploring multiple roles in music, composer, arranger, producer, vocalist, pianist, and teacher. Her teaching philosophy centers on creating a safe, joyful learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore and express themselves.
Meghan
Vocal & Songwriting Instructor

Meghan is a vocalist, songwriter and producer, and a graduate of Berklee College of Music, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Electronic Production and Sound Design and received a Contemporary Writing and Production award for excellence in electronic music production. She has produced for singer-songwriters and solo artists across hip hop, house, Afro-Cuban, orchestral and EDM, composing original material and handling arrangement through to finished mixes and masters. For a writer that means she can work on the whole song with you, from the first idea to a recording you would actually release. Whether you are writing your first song or finishing a backlog of half-ideas, she will meet you where you are.
Songwriting Lesson FAQs
No. Many students start with just their voice and an idea. Guitar or piano makes it easier to test a chord progression, so plenty of writers add a little of one alongside their lessons, but nobody is turned away for not playing yet.
That is the most common reason people book. Half-finished ideas usually stall for a structural reason, not a talent one, and a lot of early lessons are about finishing something imperfect rather than starting something new. Most students leave with a finished song well before they expected to.
Your own material. Lessons cover song structure, lyric writing, melody, and chord progressions, but always applied to the song in front of you rather than to exercises. If you want to record what you write, our production instructors pick it up from there.
Pop, rock, folk, R&B, hip hop, and singer-songwriter material, among others. Our instructors are working writers and producers across a wide range of genres, and you are matched with the one whose background fits what you want to write.
Private lessons are one-on-one and paced to whatever you are writing. The mini-course is a fixed cohort with a set curriculum and a deadline, which suits people who want structure and a group to write alongside. Many students do both.
The $100 Intro Week is the best way to start: a one hour private lesson, 7 days of unlimited group classes, and open practice time. If you continue, your $100 applies toward a membership or lesson pack. Memberships run $160 to $480 per month depending on how many private lessons you want.
We are at 33 West Street in Downtown Crossing, Boston, steps from the Red and Orange Lines at Downtown Crossing station, the Green Line at Park Street, and the Blue Line at State. Members commute from Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline, and every downtown neighborhood.
Yes. Musicians Playground is an adults-only studio. Every lesson, class, event, and practice session is built for adult learners, so you will never feel out of place starting to write later in life. Your classmates are professionals, retirees, and returners just like you.
