Our adult drum classes run on a fitness-class model: 3 to 6 players in a room with an instructor, semi-private and social, no audition and no long-term commitment. Drop into as many as you like each month. They sit alongside your private drum lessons, and they are where most members meet the people they end up forming bands with. You will be playing with our community of 200+ adults, largely working professionals who made music a creative outlet in their lives.

4 months agoI’ve been taking piano lessons here since the beginning of this year, and I truly can’t express how much I’ve loved the experience. I really enjoy the group lessons, and all of the teachers are amazing. The private lessons have also helped me learn pieces in much greater depth. The Happy Hour and Open Mic events are wonderful opportunities for members who want to perform. I even had the chance to perform with my band class crew, and it was such an incredible and memorable experience—especially because it was my very first performance ever! Whether you’re looking to learn an instrument or meet people who share the same interests, this is absolutely the place to be.

5 months agoI've been coming to MP for piano and guitar lessons for several months now and have had an awesome experience so far. The teachers here are all super knowledgable, friendly, and are open to working with you on whatever you'd like. Whether you want to dive deep into theory or just learn your favorite songs, you can get exactly the experience you're looking for here. It's also a great opportunity to collaborate with other musicians. The band and group classes are a ton of fun, and there's open mic nights and happy hours where people have the opportunity to perform what they've been working on. It's a great chance to perform in front of people if you're interested, and also super fun to see other members going up and doing their own covers, classical piano renditions, or original songs. Most of all, everyone here has been super welcoming! My guitar and piano skills have considerably improved, and I always forward to coming here after work.

Having a practice kit at home helps, but it's not required to start. We have both acoustic and electronic drum kits at our studio. Practice pads are an affordable way to practice at home quietly.
Electronic drums are excellent for learning, especially for apartment dwellers. They allow you to practice with headphones and often include training features. The technique transfers well to acoustic drums.
Most beginners can play basic beats within a few weeks. Within 3-6 months, you'll be able to play along with songs and understand fundamental rhythm concepts.
Acoustic drums are loud, but electronic drums with headphones solve this problem. Practice pads are also nearly silent and great for developing technique at home.
While drummers don't need to read melodic notation, understanding rhythm notation, time signatures, and song structure is valuable. We incorporate relevant theory into our drum lessons.
Yes. Most drum students at Musicians Playground have never sat at a kit before. Coordination and timing are built in the first few weeks with a drummer who teaches drums only, and because the studio has acoustic and electronic kits, you can start without owning one.
The $100 Intro Week comes first: a one hour private drum lesson, seven days of unlimited group classes and open practice time, and the $100 applies toward a membership or lesson pack if you continue. Memberships are monthly, from $170 for group classes only to $480 with four private lessons a month. Every tier above the entry Adventurer Mini includes up to 8 group classes a month, the Mini includes up to 4, and all of them include up to 8 practice hours and the studio's acoustic and electronic kits, so you can start without owning one.
