Every MBTA line reaches us without a long transfer. That is the practical reason our members come from across the city rather than from one neighborhood, and why a lesson fits between the office and the train home.
Music lessons near the Financial District, Beacon Hill and Back Bay
Downtown Crossing is the center of the T map, which makes it the one place in Boston an adult can reliably get to for a 6 PM lesson. Members walk over from the Financial District, Beacon Hill, South End, North End, Seaport, Back Bay and Charlestown. Cambridge and Somerville are one Red Line ride, Brookline is the Green Line to Park Street, and the commuter rail lands at South Station ten minutes away.
The studio itself is a fifth floor space built for adults, with private lessons, group classes, and open practice time you can book into. There are 200+ members, 20 teachers, and 175+ group classes a month across piano, guitar, voice and drums. Every instructor performs actively in Boston and teaches their primary instrument only, so you learn guitar from a working guitarist rather than from a generalist.
Group classes work like a fitness class. They run with 3 to 6 people, you drop into one the way you would drop into a spin class, and you leave having played with other people. A membership pairs those classes with private lessons, and tiers run from $160 to $480 a month depending on how many private lessons you want.

The discovery call is short, online, and often bookable the same day. We ask what you want to play and when you can come in, and match you to a teacher. From there, the Intro Week is $100 and includes a one hour private lesson, seven days of unlimited group classes, and open practice time, and the $100 applies toward a membership or a lesson pack if you continue.

Musicians Playground is at 33 West Street, Floor 5, in Downtown Crossing, Boston, MA 02111. West Street runs between Washington Street and Tremont Street, directly opposite Boston Common, about two minutes on foot from Downtown Crossing station.
Downtown Crossing on the Red and Orange Lines is the closest, about a two minute walk. Park Street (Red and Green) and State (Blue and Orange) are each a short walk, and South Station brings in the Silver Line and the commuter rail. Every MBTA line reaches the studio without a long transfer.
Street parking in Downtown Crossing is limited, so most members who drive use the garages on Washington Street or around Boston Common. Most members take the T, which is faster than parking downtown at lesson times.
